The Wonders of God

Who is your Elihu?

Job was struggling. He had no idea the spiritual battle going on around him. All he could see was his suffering. He had 3 friends who meant well but focused on the suffering. Elihu however had a different perspective.

It gets like that sometimes. The storm rages around us and we don’t know what to do. “WHY GOD?” Why would you let this happen?” “This isn’t fair! I’m a good person, I don’t DESERVE to suffer!”

These were my words before I had an Elihu. Before I had someone who encouraged me to look up and out of my affliction to see the God who creates- the God who delivers- the God who loves.

Elihu has several comforting words for Job that perhaps might comfort you today:

“God is mighty, but despises no one; he is mighty, and firm in his purpose. He does not keep the wicked alive but gives the afflicted their rights. He does not take his eyes off the righteous; he enthrones them with kings and exalts them forever.” ~ Job 36:5-7

“God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him? Who has prescribed his ways for him, or said to him, ‘You have done wrong’? Remember to extol his work, which people have praised in song. All humanity has seen it; mortals gaze on it from afar. How great is God—beyond our understanding! The number of his years is past finding out.” ~ Job 36:22-26 NIV

“After that comes the sound of his roar; he thunders with his majestic voice. When his voice resounds, he holds nothing back. God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.” ~ Job 37:4-5

“Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God’s wonders. The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress. Therefore, people revere him, for does he not have regard for all the wise in heart?” ~ Job 37:14, 23-24

Elihu helped Job to look up and see that God was greater AND that He hears our cry.

With a heart of humility Job says to God: “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” ~ Job 42:5

When the storm rages hear Elihu’s encouraging word:

STOP AND CONSIDER GOD’S WONDERS

And know this: He is the greatest wonder of all. ❤️

Thank You, Lord for the Elihu's of this world who have an innate ability to see You in everything. Lord, give us a heart to see Your hand in all You've made. When we face the challenges of this world, may we have a heart of humility to say, "My ears have heard of you and now my eyes have seen You.

In Jesus Name AMEN
